BREATHE

The Importance of Breathing
Breathe!

Using your breath is the fastest and most reliable tool for reducing anxiousness. The benefits include lowering your heart rate, lowering your pulse rate, calming your nervous system, calming your reptilian brain and on and on! My favorite technique is the Belly Breath – here is how you do it...
-
Inhale through your nose filling your belly with air.
-
Then slowly exhale through your mouth pulling your belly towards your spine as you deflate it.
Practice Tip
Lie on the floor or on a comfy surface placing a light object on your belly – like a saucer or the TV remote. Watch the object rise as you inhale then watch it slowly fall as you exhale. This will take a little practice but with time it will become second nature!
And if you are really having trouble with this technique, try blowing bubbles! Look in the wedding aisle of your local craft store and get a few favor sized bottles of bubbles. Start blowing! This activity will slow your breath and the is the ultimate goal here.
